Bees in the Garden

A combination of paint and collage creates a subtle statement on the importance of bees; in the garden, orchard and in a wider context. The original book pages, beautifully darkened with age, are from a 1949 copy of Tree Fruit Growing by Raymond Bush and my bees and apple blossom are painted in acrylics. The books pages have been collaged onto the support and provided an interesting textural surface to paint on with the page edges and occasional ripples in the paper creating additional visual interest.
I have used a gallery wrapped box canvas as my support and so the painting could be hung as is or, alternatively, mounted in a tray frame.
